Modernization or Replacement of Lifting Equipment
The decision to modernize or replace lifting equipment follows a technical inspection. ASPAR assesses its condition, technical feasibility and the value of an upgrade, then defines an agreed scope. If replacement is technically more appropriate, ASPAR may recommend replacement instead.
What modernization means
Modernization changes or renews agreed components of existing equipment. Depending on the assessment, ASPAR may consider the drive, control system, automation, electrical equipment, safety components, doors, guarding, platform, selected structural elements and obsolete components.
This list does not mean that every component can or should be changed on every site.
Why an inspection comes first
The inspection establishes the actual condition, availability of suitable components, the future operating requirement and whether an upgrade makes technical sense. Modernization cannot be promised before this review.

- The work and components are agreed.
- ASPAR completes the agreed scope.
- Equipment operation is checked after the work.
When replacement may be appropriate
Replacement may be recommended if modernization does not solve the new requirement or is not technically justified. There is no universal threshold based on age, cost or number of components.
Inputs for an initial assessment
- manufacturer and model if known;
- photographs of the equipment and principal components;
- available technical documentation;
- description of its condition or fault;
- the new operating requirement;
- installation location;
- known repair or modification history.
Cost, timing and evidence
No numerical price, response time, completion period or warranty term is stated without a verified Source of Truth. A quotation follows the inspection and agreed component scope. ASPAR has confirmed that it may modernize its own and third-party lifting equipment after assessment, but a verified modernization case remains a non-blocking Case Dependency.
