Chain-driven vertical platform lift for a shelter in Romny

The project in Romny called for vertical movement between levels for people with disabilities within a shelter. The height difference at this point is 2600 mm.

Shelter accessibility starts with the route a person takes, including the approach, space to enter the platform and movement between levels. The lift is one element of that route.

The project uses a new ASPAR development: a chain-driven vertical lift in stainless steel. The platform measures 1250 × 950 mm, with a lifting height of 2600 mm and a load capacity of over 250 kg.

The photograph shows the platform with metal guardrails and a side column. This type of equipment moves between levels and helps provide access for people who cannot use stairs.

For another site, the height difference, available space, entry direction, required load capacity and operating conditions need to be assessed. Photographs, a plan and landing dimensions help inform a discussion with ASPAR about the equipment configuration.

The lift should be considered as part of an accessible route to the shelter. Operating procedures and evacuation requirements are determined separately for the specific site.
